JOURNAL
ENTRY

While I was pregnant with my son, his father and I sorted out which animal he'd be most close to his whole life. We decided on a tiger, because his middle-name was the same as his god-father-to-be's first name. His god-father-to-be's nickname is Tiger, so it just made sense.
Fast-forward a few years, and it turns out he relates more to a kraken. SIGH!
When his little sister was in the works, her dad and I found ourselves deciding her animal for her as well. I was 90% more sure this time, because she seemed to think my uterus was an aquarium. I guess it kinda was!
Well, out she popped, and we had all these turtles ready to shower on her. Plushies, shirts, onesies, blankies. If we could've found a way to turn her crib into an aquarium, we would have. She enjoyed her turtle plushies, and we all thought that was that.
One fateful afternoon, the four of us (Daddy, Mama, big brother and little sister) all decided to visit Toys R Us. Deia (our little girl) was already showing signs of being a plushie hoarder, so we went traipsing down the plushie aisle. Right in the middle of the aisle, there was an adorable floppy cow. As soon as I saw it, I held it up to her and made it dance, chanting "Moooo" as I did so. She grabbed it, wrapped it up in her arms, and said "Moo." It wasn't her first word, but it quickly became her favorite! She wouldn't let us leave the store without Moo, so we had to take it home with us. We're still not sure if Original Moo (OG Moo) is a boy or a girl. Deia's only two and hasn't fully grasped the fine differences between boys and girls. It doesn't really seem to matter, though, because she now has a whole family of Moo plushies.
So much for trying to decide my kids' animals for them, huh?

Since she's such a Moo fanatic (moreso than Jaiden, my son, loves krakens), I doodled cows for her from time to time. She loves to sit on my lap and direct the Moo creation. More spots, Moo, Moo Moo Moo, tail.
For the holidays this year, I decided to draw all of us as animals, and suddenly Moo and Friends was born!

Our housemate is considered our middle child (he'll be turning 30 in a week, so he's nowhere close to our 7 and 2 year olds). He was added to the Moo and Friends roundup as a Hedgehog. Poor guy didn't know what his animal was, so we just searched for animals until we found one that fit him :)

Introducing Moo and Friends:

a comic maybe!

I've toyed with the idea of doing a comic for years. I've even tried to start one multiple times (if anybody remembers AnimeCafe, that's the only one that ever lasted as long as it did, and I wasn't the only artist). Even Jason tried to help with ideas, suggesting his crimson fairies.

After debating for a week or so, and trying to figure out what would make a good comic, I realized I'd written a bunch of story beginnings that never really got completed. I've still got those ideas running around in my head, mind you, I just never sat down and let the words pour out.

I'm hoping I'll be more reliable if it involves drawing, particularly if people like them and want more (an audience always makes a performer/artist feel motivated to do more!)

I've got a few links here to my old stories, some of which have a Part 2 in the comments section. They're hosted on Deviantart, which means you'll need an account for some (the Ninjaen Hero has one sex scene, although it's mostly implied, nothing totally graphic).

Here're the links:

Tom glanced at Nina, tilting his head to one side and raising a brow.
"You're tapping again, Darling. Is something bothering you?"
She lifted her gaze, then quickly focused on her food again. "What makes you think something is bothering me?"
Her bottom lip found its way between her teeth, as she rearranged her mashed potatos.
"I thought the potatos looked better on the other side, to be honest. Maybe you could add some of my peas as decoration."
Abruptly Nina straightened, her fork clattering on her plate as she grabbed the sides of her chair.
"Tom, I can't see you anymore."
Tom's eyebrows raised, almost comically. Considering how close he and Nina had become over the past few months, this was
a huge shock. He slowly placed his fork on the table near his plate, jumping slightly when it banged loudly against his water glass.

She awoke with a start, the name still trembling on her lips.
"Ke...To...Le...now what was his name?" She stammered to herself, "I just had it..."
She sighed and pulled her blankets up to her chin, lost in the memories of the same dream she'd been
having since she was old enough to read, when she had first learned of a most marvelous emotion that was
difficult to lavish on just one person. Generally, it took several fellows before a woman discovered her
one and only. What the woman did with those fellows, however, usually made for a story interesting
enough to write pages and pages about.
She curled to her side, legs tucked up under her arms, and slowly drifted off, remembering the last
bits of her dream in hopes that it would continue itself so she could learn the name of the man to whom

Mandy had realized this, of course, but had still harbored some secret
hopes, until they'd been slowly slashed to pieces during her first
half-hour after getting off the bus at the local greyhound.
she should've realized it when she'd seen malls instead of the usual
stretches of flatland-covered-in-grass, though that was easily
dismissed as "we aren't that close yet". Even as she'd seen the station
coming up too quickly, she'd insisted to herself that she had one more

Gavingston" which was somehow suspended from sky-hooks or some such, since
it hovered over the roof of the bus-station.

familiar house, she realized this place may look different, but the ghosts
haunting her memories hadn't really changed.

I contacted the General Manager of my hosting company, MidPhase, and let him know how I'd been treated and that I was thinking of going elsewhere. He went above and beyond my expectations, let me know it was a very rare occurrence and that they were implementing safeguards to prevent it from happening again. He made me feel like a customer again, instead of a noisy afterthought.
I feel like hugging the world again!
My boss suggested sending an email, and in the state I was in, I wasn't really going to. I was miserable and wallowing in my own self-pity, and trying to figure out what to do next. I'm really glad I decided to send the email, simply because I was compensated quite suitably and my faith in a service I've used for years has been restored. Inadvertantly, the faith in my aptitude regarding choices has also been restored (which was the source of all that self-pity).

Thank you, MidPhase, for making me feel like a customer again.

I really really really hope so :(

that's hours and hours of love and thought and coding I put into my website, all by hand, all in notepad.
It may have been crap, but hey, it ws -my- crap. I loved it, it was an extension of me, and now they tell me "oh sorry it's all gone"
I feel broken, somehow. Really stupid for crying like this, but maybe it's partially the emotional roller coaster tomorrow's birthday puts me on.
I don't know. It hurts though.
I feel stupid for never doing backups, but mad because they PROMISED backups and apparently kept them in such a way as to be completely lost whenever whatever happened did happen.
I'm mad too, but you know me -- when I'm  mad I start crying.

:j::o::u::r::n::a::l:
:e::n::t::r::y:

I'm sure everybody's heard about the teacher who showed up to work drunk, two times the legal limit.
It's all over the radio stations here in the bay area. This morning on my way to work, I listened to one station invite listeners to provide input on whether it is right that the school is not revealing the name of the teacher. It evidently hits close to home for a lot of students, because a fair amount of the callers were students of some variety or another.

Perhaps the most distressing part of this whole experience is not in that the teacher arrived drunk. It isn't something teachers should be showing or sharing with their students. It's a terrible example to set for students and teachers (especially if the teacher was held in any kind of esteem), and it's not something most parents want to expose their children to.

That said, I've had a chance to listen to these children.
What are they learning in school?
It seems to me they either aren't paying attention to the teacher in the first place, or the teachers are using some of the most rudimentary "Valley Girl/Guy" talk I've ever heard. I know we live in California, and we're well known for our "like," "seriously," "ohmigod" speech patterns, but REALLY! If you're trying to explain why you think it's morally wrong for your TEACHER to arrive to school DRUNK, show some class (and I don't mean the kind that has a teacher). Use that eloquence from apparent bygone eras. It's not just the english, the grammar -- it's how the arguments are presented.

I can see the courtrooms of tomorrow.
"Yea, my defendant is, like, not guilty. Yea. She totally didn't do that cause it's wrong. It's like, you know, wrong. So yea. She didn't do it."
Doctors would diagnose you, let you know that your, like, head was hurting, and like, here, take some painkillers.
Knowledge is nothing without the ability to explain, to express. Knowledge is nothing without understanding.
Try defining a word you use every day (like is a good example!). Now, go look it up on dictionary.com.
Defining and understanding are two different things. There are 29 entries for "Like" on dictionary.com.
It helps to use words in a sentence, and that is actually one of the best ways to actually understand a word instead of defining it.

Knowledge and understanding are half the battle, though. In our downward spiral on an educational level, it seems the blame can lay half on the "system" and half on the parents. I am blaming parents, indeed I am. I will not lay the excuse "I'm a parent so I can blame us" on you parents, since I myself am guilty of the same thing.
We are raising our children so that they will excel in this system, so they will appear to be brilliant when really they are merely excellent data storage systems.
We want calculating, cunning, computing. We have massive hard-drive banks and no CPUs or RAM, no circuitry uniting all together to form a machine that will learn and grow, teach and show. Pink Floyd taught us to be afraid of the machine, but I say, without that machine, we will all start waving fire-on-a-stick around and thumping on our chests.
Let's start showing our children, helping them learn what things mean by understanding, not by memorization. English is only hard to learn if you try to memorize. The same could be said of any language - computers, math, Spanish, German, Japanese.
Let's all help rebuild our future so it doesn't look as hopeless as it does now. Our children are our future, and right now, the future doesn't look very "bright"

I am not likely the ONLY half-way-through-20-year-old who hasn't been to college yet (attending classes with Mom in elementary doesn't count, right?). The cosmos seem to have been pushing me to sign up the past few months. Everywhere I look, there are people going to college, advertisements for college, radio shows, blah blah blah! It's like the universe is shoving me at school! I've decided to take a drawing class. Introduction to Drawing. I can't wait to start! I'm uber uber uber excited and can't wait hehe :)
So hey, does that mean I'm a college girl?? :D

I'll be attending Foothill college starting September 22nd (Jaiden's date of conception!), from 6:30pm to 9:20pm on Tuesdays.

:e::n::t::r::y:

so it recently came to my attention (TJ emailed me) that I hadn't really posted anything about my new job.
I started at western digital in June on the 16th -- so far it is totally awesome and everybody is very nice (no tempers flaring yet :P)
it's really nice to be among fellow nerd-types. :) Too often when you get a seemingly-tech job, most of the people you work with aren't really very technical and so get confused easily when you start talking like a tech-nerd.
Anyway :)
I'm working for the MioNet division, which WD recently acquired. www.MioNet.com if you're interested -- it's a really really awesome product that comes with the My Book World and a bunch of other external hard-drive types, in addition to being perfectly acceptable apart from any WD hardware. MioNet allows other people to access your computer (including yourself) from outside your local network, and have your hard-drives listed in their network drives list as mounted drives. It's pretty cool how it works (like an emulator sorta), and it's got lots of other features, too -- desktop sharing (like VNC), and webcam sharing (which is more secure than IMing, since it's going through our secure servers). The best part of it all is how simple everything is to set up. When it malfunctions (which is what I see, I get all the not-working cases), it can be a hassle getting it to work (sometimes), but it hardly ever encounters problems when installing it. Our My Book Worlds are basically NASs with samba on them, and when provided with internet access, they can be accessed from ANYWHERE in the world (with MioNet, for the lifetime of the product). It's really really really cool.
anyway :) The job is in Mountain View (california), so if anybody wants to hang out at lunch, lemme know!!

I'll be going to so-cal this Thursday and will be back on Friday around 8pm. Thought it would be interesting -- my first real business trip :D The only other time I've been down there was for training, and that was a whole month away and not technically a business trip.

and for THIS WEEKEND -- I will, of course, be at caextreme. If you aren't there then YOU'RE A GOOBER! :P caextreme.org for more info :)

my grampa on my dad's side, grampa barnes (or grampa bob) just died.
he's been in the hospital for the past 2 weeks because of a stroke, and evidently he's finally passed on.
I just found out everything just now.
I'm feeling numb and separated and weird, like I'm in a bubble.
Just because you don't see someone every day of your life doesn't mean it wouldn't hurt if they were suddenly gone.
I miss him and who he was and wish I could have had the chance to say goodbye, hug him one last time, and let him know I love him.
What is with me and my loved ones going before I get the chance?
at least he didn't go the way dad did. he was old already and had alzheimers and had been in a home for the past few years. Everyone has their time. It doesn't make it hurt any less.

when I was a kid, I LOVED to cook, bake, concoct -- I was always in front of the stove or a mixing bowl, always making something new and interesting. One of the things that was prominent in every memory is an awesome betty crocker cook book. I haven't been able to locate one like that (it was a picture step-by-step cook book), but since I know all the terminology, a regular betty crocker cook book has been serving me well the past few weeks. It's been well over 10 years since I've picked up a measuring cup with the intent to put flour and sugar in a bowl. I've been finding my passion for cooking the past few weeks (in my boredom), and since this particular kitchen has no currently reigning queen, I've stolen the position. I've been experimenting with various recipes and enjoying the outcomes (both in slightly hard biscuits that still taste really good and in yummy cookies that ended up slightly chewier), and most RECENTLY, as in RIGHT NOW, yummy yummy chocolate chip cookies. I'm cutting up snickers minis and sticking them on top too, for yummy caramelly nutty goodness. I really do miss the whole process. Even without proper mixing equipment, I'm still having fun getting my arms all sore from something OTHER than extracurricular activities and it's awesomeness :D
if anybody wants any cookies, I'm in livermore now :D

so father's day is around the corner, I'll get Jaiden on Thursday instead of Friday to compensate for Jason having him on Sunday instead of Monday. The Monday after father's day (which is Sunday :P) I will -hopefully- be starting my new job! This means one more week of boredom (or massive bouts of drawing, or leveling my chars on angels online which is possibly one of the easiest games I've ever played, made even easier by the new implementation of a built in bot they named "angel baby"!! unbelievable. it's one reason to stay away from free mmorpgs :P)
in any case
yay for no more boredom!
plus it's tech support, which has always been my favorite position. I love helping people. My dad always griped and moaned about everybody asking him to fix their computers, but honestly, I think he enjoyed it as much as I do. Fixing things is in the blood :D
my brother's about to turn 9, ain't that a kick. My son's birthday is immediately followed by Daniel's youngest nephew's birthday, he'll be 1 year old on the 24th while Jaiden will be 2 on the 22nd of June. I seriously can't wait. Jaiden had a blast at his birthday last year. He's getting two this year (I think...??), so he should have even MORE fun :)
Since I've never had any problem getting him as many toys as he could hold in his hands, it'll be a practice in restraint when we go to Target to get him a stroller/high chair (he has them at his dad's, but we've been making do here and it's getting pretty annoying). He's probably too old for a stroller, but frankly, I'm getting sick of him refusing to budge when it's time to go to a different store or when we're taking a walk and he suddenly gets tired and won't move. My arms can only hold a 30 pound child for so long ;) particularly one that wiggles as much as he does.
Yay for finally having a job! /happy dance
and happy birthday soon Jaiden! Just a few more days and I can tell everybody the story of how Jaiden was born :D

fooling around with the journal css thing. kinda fun. pretty simple.
drawing that water fairy was most of the fun :P got to fight with programs to create that weird tiled BG that's (hopefully) kinda broken-glass looking. :)
set art-trades and commissions to open since I've got nothing to do and the bf doesn't seem to care if I have a job or not as long as the apartment's clean :P
blargh!
I'm going to be SO bored if I don't get a job soon!
seems like everybody wants me but nobody wants me, or something, it's weird =o.O=
HAVE FUN!

I totally suck at journal subjects
prolly cause I wait til ten thousand things change in my life, then change to something else, and then write a journal that may or may not say those things. or something.
anyway.
the baby-daddy's girlfriend broke up with him, got back with him, broke up, got back broke up got back broke up got back just friends with benefits broke up got back friends with benefits...you get the idea. a friend of hers then informed Jason that she -always- did that with her boyfriends, and she would eventually just dump him and start going out with someone else instead. She does this with every guy she goes out with, and while they're going out, 90% of the time she's clingy and needy and doesn't thinks she's good enough for the guy, so the guy spends most of the relationship consoling her and telling her she's beautiful. Kinda weird. She's very pretty, should have no trouble getting a boyfriend, and is not fat although she likes to say she is. Whatever. She broke Jason's heart, and that doesn't sit well with me. Jason's now turning into some kinda male harlot or something, a different girl every night, just to spite the ex. He's completely erased her from his life that she no longer means anything to him. Mostly my concerns run along Jaiden's path, hoping these decisions of Jason's don't affect him. He seems to be keeping it away from home life so that's good.
I quit AT&T a month ago or so, some weird union issues going on, plus another company was interested in me to the point that they wanted me to give 1 weeks notice instead of 2. I agreed, and then that company decided to fire me based on rules that were never disclosed to me that I somehow broke. So! I'm a jobless kitty now! Anybody have any computers they want me to fix? :)
Jaiden's huge, as always. I have a nephew now, he's ABSOLUTELY adorable, and he's also huge!! He's a couple weeks old now and looks at -least- a month, his face is very mature, and he's really really cute. My best friend Brendan is getting married this Saturday, so on Sunday Daniel, Jaiden and I will probably head over to the San Francisco area to visit my new nephew. Maybe we'll take Peter along too so he can play with both of his nephews. My mom probably wouldn't go since she's not related and things are still really weird from the funeral stuff/car/all-that-crap >.<
Sooo, now that I have all this free time, I'm trying really hard not to climb the walls. I hate not having a job, it's completely boring and there's nothing to do. Mostly I hate being alone, but I also need to have a job because of the whole being-needed thing.
Arthur went back to the philippines, and I'm still coping with that, but he seems to need to be back there so that he can come full circle again and learn and grow.
Daniel's nephews are with their grandparents now, so that's good. Jaingo's growing like a weed and is trying to walk already, even though he's only 9 months old. Jaiden and Cinco get along very well, which is good. Jaiden's still got his pacifier which is really annoying for me, but whatever. Cinco's two and a half, and Jaiden just turned 21 months, and Jaiden's taller and thicker and heavier than Cinco. It's really funny. Cinco will grow up to be over six feet tall I'm sure, while Jaiden will maybe grow to 5 foot 11 (my family is full of very very short people :P), but it's obvious Jaiden will be thicker simply because his bone structure is set to massive. Gets that from me and my dad :P
anyway.
probably rambled enough here.
things, stuff, etc --
have fun! =^.^=

  • Listening to: Jaiden snoring

  • Watching: my cellphone

my journal subjects are so eloquent
donno what's up with the drawing stuff. everything's comin out weird. don't really feel like coloring, either :P
uuuuh
jaiden's HUGE now. thinks he's two and a half or something. he'll be one and a half on the 22nd of december :D WOOT!!!

recently got into a sorta weekly drinking thing. not sure if it'll happen again though -- my inhibitions are what keep me sane, and are apparently the glue that keep my friendships alive xD
favorite part of drinking is DANCING! it's the -only- time I'll willfully dance without thinking twice.
working out as much as I can, too. my personal trainer (Robert, a very good friend and co-worker) works out with me. We do legs on day, arms the next, then back to legs. our goal is to get rid of this baby belly (it's getting -much- better!! yaaaay!) and firm up my legs and arms. :P
so far I'm stronger, which always makes me happy, and while I haven't really lost weight I've changed shape. he says my butt looks nicer xD
the hubby's got a girlfriend now (baby-daddy, not hubby, sorry! :P)
he's totally in love with her and she is with him and it's so cute xD she looks -just- like Willow from Buffy. I found this amusing because 1. Jason has a photo of Willow -framed- because he likes her so much, and 2. they didn't even realize it until I met her and teased Jay about it. hehehe :D
meeting very awesome people at work. lots of things to learn about life, people, the stars, and of course myself. abilities, just how much I am capable of, and whether those talents will be of any use to anyone =^.^=
YAY FOR SMOKED CHEDDAR ON KEEBLER CLUBS!!
also, I quit soda.
over a month now.
YAAAAY!

so, as some of you know, my marriage is kinda rocky right now. It's not (necessarily) another man/woman (whatever), but there was some instigation from an outside party. Showed me that I wasn't happy, and that there is so much more to life than living it for other people. finding someone who was built especially for you, just for you -- it's amazing to discover.

I've been talking a bunch with my husband about the "other guy", about our marriage, about what life would be like if we were apart, some about soulmates. shortly after the talk we had about soulmates, someone who he's never managed to get reaquainted with while one or the other of them was single came back into his life. they talked about it some, which is pretty interesting.
I was dragging stuff out of him, and he finally mentioned one of the girls he helped train who's also a good friend, and how they're always talking about this and that, INCLUDING many things he -never- talks about with me. he just can't, it's some block in his head. among them is sex, and things related to it, which as ya'll know I love to talk about.
stopping him right there, I realized that's where our problems all came from. not that we got married, no. that we have a baby. it put me into "mother mode" in his mind, and now instead of treating me like a wife, he treats me like a mother.
we haven't ever really connected, not on all the layers that I have nor that he has. he's vertically layered, I think, while I'm horizontally layered.
we're still married, and plan to file for taxes jointly one last time next april, but we'll be separating and probably living separately. I'll have to find someone to move in with (obviously), since I can't afford a place on my own. well, perhaps I could, but it'd make things tight.

Not to blame Jaiden, though -- never never never. he was planned, we love him, we wouldn't give him up for the world.

for those of you who are curious about "the other guy", I will ONLY tell you that he's like a mixture of brendano and myself. he's a few years older than jason as well. I -do- love him, am -in love- with him, and know that he is my soulmate.
Jason asked me, and I wasn't sure how to respond, since my feelings are all a confused jumble. I'm absolutely certain of that though, Jason, as I'm sure you've already figured out.

it's interesting that I feel the same way toward jason that he does toward me. he's family. not my husband, not my boyfriend. just family.
how weird is that?

life is weird. always.

kid's 9 months old, wears 18 month clothing. really cute kid but he's HEAVY!!
trying to walk, as well, and it gets frustrating cause he wants to go everywhere and do everything really fast but it's hard when you alternatingly lunge and roll, with a smidgen of crawling.

working on some commissions; if you're waiting on me to do something for you, leave a note here so I can remember I have it to do, being as my brain is given to dropping bits of information in favor of less exciting drivel. C'est la vie.

tad tired now, working lots at work so, I'm tired all the time

life's had some weird twists lately, both in actions and in story-lines. weirdness, weirdness. that is life I suppose.

kingdom hearts II is awesomeness. that and wow are a large chunk of my brainless time. the rest of my time is spent with my son, with my hubby, or drawing. haven't been drawing as much lately, I think partially because my creative flow isn't very strong, and partially because when I have time to I'm barely conscious enough to shake the mouse, so I'll mindlessly grind to 40 instead of drawing, since I don't want to screw stuff up. I'm also contemplating getting a wacom, since I've noticed my aiptek is starting to act differently. it draws lines, yes, and that's the most significant ability needed for drawing with a tablet, but the lines are a tad straggly and go everywhere. not the battery. maybe it's the pen, but I'm more inclined to believe it's the tablet itself, because it's got fairly cheap wiring within and gets hot really easily, which isn't good for wiring. oh well.
we'll see :D
